11 October 2012: Two-hundred fifty business, public and civil society leaders committed to advancing inclusive green growth gathered at the second annual Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) on 8-9 October 2012 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The theme of the forum was resource efficiency and growth. Participants discussed the economics as well as the political economy of green growth. They also discussed public and private partnerships (PPP) that can enhance green growth opportunities.

During the forum, several new public and private partnerships were launched in a number of different sectors, including: a PPP in energy efficiency finance which seeks to create a new market for energy efficiency services in industries through the banking system; and a bio-based growth PPP, aimed at promoting sustainable bio-based growth through securing finance for shared research and innovation facilities to the amount EUR 3.8 billion.

3GF was opened by Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and by the partner countries represented by the Prime Minister of South Korea, Hwang-sik Kim, and the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico, Juan Rafael Elvira Quesada; Vice Minister National Energy Administration from China Liu Qi; Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority of Qatar and the Incoming President of the 18th Conference of the Parties (COP 18) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah; and the Minister for Medical Services of Kenya Peter Anyang’Nyong’o.
