Regional Preparatory meeting for SIDS4 for the AIS Region

The regional preparatory meeting for the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) for the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and South China Seas (AIS) region will convene from 24-26 July 2023.

This regional preparatory meeting is one of three regional meetings. These meetings, as well as an interregional preparatory meeting for all SIDS, aim to identify and develop input for SIDS4, which will convene in Antigua and Barbuda in 2024. The International Conference will result in an intergovernmentally agreed, forward-looking, and action-oriented political outcome document.

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) established a Preparatory Committee to conduct organizational, procedural, and substantive preparation for the Conference. Barbados, Cabo Verde, the Dominican Republic, Fiji, Italy, Latvia, Maldives, New Zealand, Romania, and Seychelles serve as the members of the Bureau of the Preparatory Committee. Samoa and Antigua and Barbuda serve as ex officio members of the Bureau.
