Oceans and Climate Meeting in Preparation for Oceans Day at UNFCCC COP 22

This is the third in a series of initial discussion meetings on oceans and climate change, which aim to: prioritize actions to be undertaken during the next 12 months to advance specific aspects of the oceans and climate agenda; help mobilize a group of high-level leaders on oceans and climate to provide the necessary political impetus and support; consider which collaborating organizations have the comparative advantage and willingness to take the lead on specific priority actions; and initiate work with the Government of Morocco and others to ensure oceans issues are prominent at the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the UNFCCC, in particular, through the convening of Oceans Day. Priority actions will draw from recommendations on oceans and climate related to mitigation, adaptation, displacement, financing, and capacity development, laid out at Oceans Day during UNFCCC COP 21.
