This Symposium is organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) – Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (WESTPAC). It aims to bring together marine scientists with a view to encouraging an interdisciplinary approach towards the management and sustainable development of coasts and oceans with the growing challenges of climate change. Issues to be addressed include: coastal acidification; climate modeling and prediction; marine remote sensing; and paleoclimatology (corals and monsoon).
