This Conference is organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering Water Research Alliance and Department Irrigation and Drainage (DID), in collaboration with the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO, the Humid Tropics Centre, Kuala Lumpur, and Suruhanjaya UNESCO Malaysia. It is organized around the theme “Sharing Knowledge of Issues in Water Resources Management to Face the Future” and will address the following sub-themes: flood management; water supply and water economics; watershed management; water-related natural disasters; environment and coastal zone management; adaptive soft computing applications; mathematics and its applications; and other related disciplines. Cross-cutting issues include: climate change; water for food and irrigated agricultural land; hydropower and water and renewable energy; water supply and sanitation; integrated river basin management; disaster risk management; and maintaining aquatic biodiversity. The 20th Regional Steering Committee Meeting for Southeast Asia and the Pacific – UNESCO-IHP will also take place.
