Disciplining Fossil Fuel Subsidies for Climate Mitigation and SDGs: A Job for the Trade System?

Organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), the Guarini Center on Environmental, Energy and Land Use Law and the Institute of International Law and Justice (IILJ) of the New York University School of Law, the event will discuss fossil fuel subsidies and their impact on climate change. It will explore the role of the trade system by discussing options for how the World Trade Organization (WTO) could become equipped to “discipline” the subsidies.

This event takes place as part of Climate Week NYC 2017.
