The third Arab Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency is a high-level ministerial international/political/technical forum held every two years under the patronage of Secretary-General of the League of Arab States (LAS). The Forum addresses challenges towards realizing future energy market transformation and transition in the Arab region, through discussions on the future role and impact of renewable energy and energy efficiency development at the economic, environmental and social levels. This third Forum will also emphasize the most recognized positions and strategies towards integrating renewable energy and energy efficiency into the Arab energy mix. High-level governmental officials, energy and electricity ministers, heads of international and regional Organizations, CEOs of companies working in the energy fields, and experts from the Arab region, as well as other regions, are expected to attend the meeting. The first forum was held in 2012 and the second in 2014. The forum is being organized by LAS in cooperation with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, the EU-funded project Energy Efficiency in the Construction Sector in the Mediterranean, and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), among other partners.
