The UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) will hold its biennial Global Roundtable to mobilize the financial sector to deliver a sustainable financial system. UNEP FI is organizing its flagship event alongside the fourth Climate Finance Day, convened by Finance for Tomorrow, an initiative of Paris EUROPLACE.
Meeting ahead of the 24th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 24) to the UNFCCC, the event will address, inter alia: the financial sector’s readiness to align capital allocations to science-based targets; advancing environmental risk management; SDG financing gap; and the Insurance Development Goals for Cities.
The Roundtable will also feature the launch of the Banking Principles for Public Consultation, which seek to define the banking industry’s role and responsibilities in aligning financing with the SDGs and Paris Agreement on climate change to help shape a sustainable future.
