UNIDO Trains Developing Country Professionals in Sustainable Energy Solutions

The second professional development programme on ‘Sustainable Energy Solutions: Technologies, Trends and Policy Options' has brought together 25 policymakers, mid-level managers and experts from emerging and developing countries to learn about the design and implementation of sustainable energy systems.

UNIDO19 November 2014: The second professional development programme on ‘Sustainable Energy Solutions: Technologies, Trends and Policy Options’ brought together 25 policymakers, mid-level managers and experts from emerging and developing countries to learn about the design and implementation of sustainable energy systems.

The course informed participants about current and expected sustainable energy trends in emerging and developing countries, and encouraged them to reflect on practical, innovative and cost-effective ways to advance sustainability solutions in the energy industry. The course emphasized a comprehensive, cross-cutting approach, addressing topics such as: universal energy access; industry competitiveness; energy security; and climate change. Specific topics included energy modeling; best practices in global energy policymaking; best available technologies; financing schemes; and business models for sustainable energy systems.

The training course, which drew more than 1600 applicants worldwide, was held from 18-26 November 2014, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, by the UN Industrial Organization’s (UNIDO) Institute for Capacity Development and the International Center for Promotion of Enterprises.
