Kutesa notes that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon confirmed the visit following consultations with the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See.

By the draft decision submitted to UN Member States, the UN Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda would open at 11 am on 25 September 2015, instead of 9 am as specified in UNGA resolution 69/244 of December 2014, to allow for the Pope’s address in the morning of 25 September.
