The 33rd session of the World Heritage Committee took place from 22-30 June 2009, in Seville, Spain, to review the state of conservation of properties inscribed on the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) World Heritage List and nominations for new inscriptions of cultural and natural sites on the List.

During the meeting, the Committee decided to inscribe two marine sites on the World Heritage List: the Wadden Sea as a transboundary property for Germany and the Netherlands; and the Philippines’ Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park. The Committee also decided to inscribe Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
