UNEP Holds “Play for the Planet Initiative”

Organized by UNEP's Children and Youth programme, the initiative sought to educate young people about environmental protection, and planted over 1,000 trees in Mombasa, Kenya.

8 October 2010: The Children and Youth programme of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) organized its annual Play for the Planet Initiative from 8-10 October 2010, with the aim of educating young people about environmental protection.

The Initiative, which took place in Mombasa, Kenya, included the planting of over 1,000 trees. In other East-African tree-planting news, UNEP announced activities by the Greenbelt movement in Kenya, as well as a UN backed tree-planting protect in east Sudan.
