The UN Secretariat launched an updated dashboard, which provides a consolidated reference of the work packages across the three UN80 reform initiative workstreams that seek to: achieve efficiencies and improvements (Workstream 1); review mandate implementation (Workstream 2); and introduce structural changes and programme realignments (Workstream 3). The UN80 Initiative Actions dashboard will facilitate public tracking of progress.
A complement to the UN80 Initiative Action Plan, the dashboard highlights the designated leads for each work package against the corresponding indicative actions, as drawn from the Secretary-General’s reports on the UN80 Initiative:
- Proposed programme budget for 2026 (Workstream 1), which informed the deliberations on and the adoption of the budget with additional reductions;
- Report of the Mandate Implementation Review (Workstream 2); and
- ‘Shifting Paradigms: United to Deliver’ (Workstream 3).
The three workstreams of the UN80 Initiative span 31 work packages, 86 actions, 34 system leaders, and 54 system entities. In addition to information about the status of actions, the dashboard highlights upcoming milestones by month, spells out work packages per leader, and outlines actions per workstream.
The dashboard includes an advanced search function, which allows the user to filter by work package lead, workstream, action, action status, work package, package type, and team member.
To enable the sharing of key developments as the UN80 Initiative progresses, milestone and timeline information will be updated on an ongoing basis.
Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder updated Member States on the UN80 Initiative Actions dashboard during an informal meeting of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on 26 January 2026. During the briefing, the co-leads of the work package on a demand-driven mechanism for system-wide expertise under Workstream 3 – the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) – also provided updates. The Executive Director of the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) spoke about UN Country Team reconfiguration.
Going forward, UNGA President Annalena Baerbock will convene monthly briefings on the UN80 Initiative, to “allow for continued transparent engagement on the ongoing reform efforts,” as per a letter dated 22 January 2026.
