3 October 2012: UN-Water has published its 2011 Annual Report highlighting the year’s achievements, including launching the UN Documentation Centre on Water and Sanitation (UN-DCWS), undertaking a survey of 130 countries on approaches to water management, and responding to urban water challenges through the World Water Day (WWD) campaign.

The report provides an overview of UN-Water activities including: outreach and communications; major events; publications; programmes; thematic priority areas (TPAs) and task forces; and other activities. The report highlights that the TPA on drinking water and basic sanitation focuses on the “Sustainable Sanitation: Five-Year Drive to 2015” adopted by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in 2010.

Other TPAs and task forces include transboundary water, water and climate change, water quality, country level coordination, gender and water, regional level coordination, wastewater management, and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) Water Resources Management Report.
