UN CC:Learn and Partners Raise Climate Change Awareness in Rio, CTCN Contributes to SDGs 8, 11, 13, 15

UN CC:Learn and ZCO2, a Brazilian coalition program of citizens and companies engaged in sustainable development initiatives to combat climate change, convened a workshop to increase awareness about climate change issues in the urban context of Rio de Janeiro’s communities.

The CTCN published updates on its ongoing technical assistance on designing a knowledge management system for tropical forests management and ecosystem services in Costa Rica, and strengthening technical capacities for the implementation of a Guatemalan online climate platform.

28 March 2018: This capacity-building and technology update outlines capacity-building initiatives that seek to promote climate change adaptation and mitigation, and sustainable urban development. They contribute to implementation of SDGs 13 (climate action), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 15 (life on land) and 8 (decent work and economic growth), among others.

The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership (UN CC:Learn) and ZCO2, a Brazilian coalition program of citizens and companies engaged in sustainable development initiatives to combat climate change, convened a workshop to increase awareness about climate change issues in the urban context of Rio de Janeiro’s communities. Participants discussed, inter alia, ways to transform the challenges climate change presents to urban communities into opportunities, and the role of stakeholder engagement in driving development towards fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The workshop convened within the framework of a UN CC:Learn and ZSCORE project on bringing climate change education to Rio de Janeiro.
