sdkpNovember 2013: The UN Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing (ICSDF) has invited input from all interested stakeholders on the topic of “assessing financing needs, mapping of current flows and emerging trends, and the impact of domestic and international environments.” Submissions are being accepted through 15 November 2013, via the UN Sustainable Development Knowledge Platform.

The topic corresponds to the work of the Committee’s Thematic Cluster 1, which is co-facilitated by ICSDF members Reginald Darius (Saint Lucia) and Liz Ditchburn (UK).

Input is requested on two specific questions: “What is your assessment of the effectiveness, consistency and synergies of current flows and instruments for financing sustainable development?” and “What are key factors in the domestic and international environment that should be taken into account by the Committee?”

The Committee was established following a mandate from the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+2o), and held its first session in August 2013. Comprised of 30 experts nominated by the UN regional groups, the Committee is tasked with proposing a strategy to mobilize resources for sustainable development. The Committee will hold its next session in December 2013. [ICSDF Webpage for Input on Cluster 1] [IISD RS Coverage of ICSDF]
