The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the lead consortium of the UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference.
27 September 2013: The Secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the lead consortium of the UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference.
The Scientific and Traditional Knowledge for Sustainable Development (STK4SD) will lead the preparations for the Conference, which will focus on the theme ‘Combating desertification/land degradation and drought for poverty reduction and sustainable development: the contribution of science, technology, traditional knowledge and practices.’
The MoU was signed on 27 September 2013, in Windhoek, Namibia, on the sidelines of the Eleventh Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UNCCD (COP 11).
The first announcement for the UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference has also been released. The meeting is expected to take place in early 2015. [UNCCD Press Release on the MOU][Announcement for UNCCD 3rd Scientific Conference]
