7 April 2014: The 39th Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-39) and the 12th Session of IPCC Working Group III (WGIII-12) opened on 7 April 2014, in Berlin, Germany. Focusing on the mitigation of climate change, the meeting is expected to approve WGIII’s contribution to the Fith Assessment report (AR5).

IPCC WGIII will aim to approve line-by-line the WGIII Summary for Policy-Makers and accept the underlying assessment of scientific literature. Subsequently, the Panel will convene in full to formally endorse the WGIII report.

AR5 has been under preparation for six years and will consist of a Synthesis Report and of the contributions by the three WGs. The Panel adopted its WGI contribution on the physical science basis of climate change in Stockholm, Sweden, in September 2013, and its WGII contribution on climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability in March 2014, in Yokohama, Japan.
