ICCWC Offers Training on Combating Wildlife and Forest Crime in Asia

The International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC) offered training in investigative techniques to wildlife law enforcement officials from across Asia.

The training took place on the sidelines of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP 16).

12 March 2013: The International Consortium on Combating Wildlife Crime (ICCWC) held a training session for wildlife law enforcement officials from across Asia. The training, which focused on investigative techniques, took place on the sidelines of the sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES CoP 16).

The training focused on measures to investigate the sophisticated criminal networks behind wildlife and forest crime, including special techniques pertaining to anti-money laundering and asset recovery. The event was held by ICCWC as part of the symposium on wildlife crime organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in close collaboration with the CITES Secretariat, INTERPOL, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
