5 May 2009: The Global Environment Facility’s (GEF) Small Grants Programme was launched in Zambia on 24 April 2009, at one of the projects that benefited from the funding.

The project seeks to enhance adaptation to climate change by families considered vulnerable through the promotion of agriculture to improve household food security and increase income, which in turn is expected to reduce economic pressures on the environment. [GEF press release]
