The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Government of the Netherlands co-organized a Roundtable on Ecolabelling and Certification in the Fisheries Sector in The Hague, from 22-23 April 2009.

The Roundtable brought together representatives from organizations involved in fisheries certification, the fisheries value chain elements and NGOs, and aimed to inform participants about how the industry adapts to the increasing pressures for standards, to understand stakeholder expectations with respect to the role of public authorities and private standards in the field of standards and the role and place of standards in the market for fish and fish products.
