Doha Amendment Reaches 88 Ratifications

Belgium, Fiji, Germany, Luxembourg, Myanmar, Pakistan, Spain and Sweden have accepted the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol since 8 August 2017.

The Doha Amendment was adopted at CMP 8, which took place in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November to 8 December 2012.

14 November 2017: Since 8 August 2017, eight Parties have accepted the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol, bringing the total number of ratifications to 88. The Amendment will enter into force when 144 or three-quarters of Parties to the Kyoto Protocol have submitted their instruments of acceptance to the Depositary.

Belgium submitted its instrument of acceptance on 14 November 2017; Fiji on 19 September 2017; Germany on 14 November 2017; Luxembourg on 21 September 2017; Myanmar on 19 September 2017; Pakistan on 31 October 2017; Spain on 14 November 2017; and Sweden on 14 November 2017.

The Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol was adopted by Decision 1/CMP.8 at the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8), which took place in Doha, Qatar, from 26 November to 8 December 2012.
