CBD April Bulletin Highlights Meetings of Joint Liaison Group, Biodiversity Conventions Group

The Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions formalized the terms of reference of modus operandi of the group, identified joint high-level activities for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) as well as the 20th anniversary of the Conventions in 2012, and agreed on new and revised joint publications on climate change adaptation, forests and gender.

16 May 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published its Monthly Bulletin of Activities for April 2011, which indicates that the Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions has formalized the terms of reference of modus operandi of the group, identified joint high-level activities for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) as well as the 20th anniversary of the Conventions in 2012, and agreed on new and revised joint publications on climate change adaptation, forests and gender. The Joint Liaison Group of the Rio Conventions met on 11 April 2011, in Bonn, Germany.

The Biodiversity-related Conventions Liaison Group met on 13 April 2011, in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting addressed activities undertaken in support of the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity, and preparation for the UN Decade for Biodiversity.
