World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed annually on 17 June to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification.
The Day offers a chance to recognize that land degradation neutrality (LDN), a world where human activity has a neutral or positive impact on land, is achievable through problem solving, strong community involvement, and cooperation at all levels. Under the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), more than 130 countries have pledged to achieve LDN by 2030.
