The 2018 World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) will focus on how consumers can regenerate economies, create jobs and revitalize livelihoods and communities by influencing the market to invest in sustainable land management. The Day will convene under the slogan, ‘Land has true value. Invest in it,’ to remind the world that land is a tangible asset with measurable value beyond just cash.

The WDCD is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The Day aims to raise awareness that land degradation neutrality (LDN) is achievable through problem solving, strong community involvement and co-operation at all levels. Ecuador will host the 2018 global observance of the Day.
