The World Maritime University (WMU) will convene its Third International Women’s Conference from 4-5 April 2019 on the theme, ‘Empowering Women in the Maritime Community’.

Governments, representatives from the maritime, port, ocean and fishing sectors, UN agencies, academia, research institutes, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders will come together to address the gender gap in the maritime, ports, fishing and related industries. The conference is organized with support from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Celebrity Cruises, Seafarers’ Trust and The Nippon Foundation.

The conference will convene ahead of World Maritime Day 2019 on 26 September, which will focus on the same theme.
