Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Agenda

UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Peter Thomson, in collaboration with the Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Patricia Espinosa, will convene Member States, the UN System, and stakeholders for a High-level Action Event on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Agenda. The event will include panel discussions on: Stocktaking on Climate – Paris Agreement ratification; Science; Gaps and Opportunities; Implementing Solutions – Scaling up implementation of the Paris Agreement and SDGs; and 2020 as Opportunity – Achieving the 2020 SDG targets and National Determined Contribution (NDC) ambitions. The event will provide an opportunity to highlight synergies between climate change and the 2030 Agenda, and to gather representatives of governments, international organizations, the private sector and other stakeholders who are advancing solutions to implementation of the SDGs and Paris Agreement.
