UNGA Preparatory Meeting for the Third UN Ocean Conference

The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) will convene a one-day preparatory meeting for the Third UN Ocean Conference (UNOC). The Third UNOC aims to generate transformative action and provide solutions the ocean needs, supported by ocean science and funding for SDG 14 (life below water).

The Governments of France and Costa Rica will co-chair the Conference and the preparatory meeting. The meeting will consider the themes for the UNOC’s ten Ocean Action panels and elements for a brief, concise, action-oriented, and intergovernmentally agreed declaration.

The UNOC Co-Chairs will also hold consultations with stakeholders in June 2024, in Costa Rica.
