UNGA Informal Meeting on Road Safety Financing

The UN General Assembly will hold a one-day meeting on financing for road safety as part of preparations for the 2022 High-level Meeting on Road Safety. The informal meeting will be convened by the UNGA President with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN regional commissions, in cooperation with other relevant partners.

The meeting is convened as part of the preparatory process for the UNGA's High-level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety planned for July 2022.

The meeting will include a thematic dialogue on investment in road safety and finance for achieving the road-safety related SDG targets. It will also include a multi-stakeholder hearing.

The meeting is called for in UNGA resolution 75/308 adopted on 21 July 2021. The Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 has set a target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. SDG targets under Goals 11 and 13 also address the safety of transport systems.

The concept note and programme are provided here.
