UNGA Briefing on the High-Level UN Conference to Support Implementation of SDG 14

The President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) will convene a briefing on the ongoing preparations for the High-Level UN Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 (Life below water). The briefing will also include an update on preparations for the preparatory meeting of the Conference that will take place on 15-16 February 2017. Participants in the briefing will include: representatives of the co-presidents of the Conference, Fiji and Sweden; the Secretary-General of the Conference, Wu Hongbo; and the focal point for UN-Oceans and Special Adviser to the co-presidents, Miguel de Serpa Soares. In resolution A/RES/70/226, the UNGA decided to convene the High-Level UN Conference to Support the Implementation of SDG 14 from 5-9 June 2017, coinciding with World Oceans Day. The Conference will be co-hosted by the Governments of Fiji and Sweden, and will take place at UN Headquarters in New York, US.
