United Nations Day is celebrated annually on 24 October, marking the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. The Day offers the opportunity to amplify a common agenda and reaffirm the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

The UN Charter came into force in 1945 following the document’s ratification by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.
