19-21 October 2020 virtual
Virtual UN World Data Forum

The third UN World Data Forum was expected to take place from 18-21 October 2020, in Bern, Switzerland. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a reduced virtual form of the Forum will take place from 19-21 October 2020, and an in person event will take place from 3-6 October 2021.

The virtual event in October 2020 will address topics such as data needs and data use during pandemics.

The World Data Forum brings together data leaders from national and international statistical systems, academia, business community and civil society, among other stakeholder groups, to foster exchange of ideas, showcase innovations, identify solutions, discuss future strategies, and provide mutual learning opportunities. The third Forum will have six thematic areas.

The third UNWDF will be hosted by Swiss Confederation and Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland, with support from the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, under the guidance of the UN Statistical Commission and the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
