This meeting is scheduled to take place as a virtual meeting from 23 August-3 September 2021. 

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place from 27-31 July 2020. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, on 23 March 2020, CBD Acting Executive Secretary Elizabeth Mrema announced that the dates for this meeting would be adjusted. 

The third meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework will convene to advance preparations for the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The negotiating process will culminate in the adoption of a post-2020 global biodiversity framework by the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Kunming, China.

This is the third of three preparatory meetings, with the first meeting convening on 27-30 August 2019, in Nairobi, Kenya, and the second meeting convening the 24-28 February 2020, in Rome, Italy.
