Thematic Consultation on the Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for the Post‑2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

The Thematic Consultation on the Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity for the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework will consider elements of the draft monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework which was developed for peer review in preparation for the 24th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific Technical and Technological Advice. The aim of the consultation is to provide further insight and strengthen the elements related to the sustainable use of biodiversity in the entire framework.

The consultation was initially scheduled to hold in Bern, Switzerland from 30 March to 1 April 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was cancelled. The consultation will now be held entirely online, and the online activities that are planned for the consultation include a series of webinars, an online survey and an online moderated forum. All these activities will be undertaken under the supervision of the Co-Leads appointed by the Co-chairs of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

The following dates have been set for the survey, online forum and webinars:

  • First Webinar: 27 July 2020
  • Online Survey: 27 July – 17 August 2020
  • Online Forum: 7 – 11 September 2020
  • Second Webinar (in two time zones): 6 and 8 October 2020.
