30-31 January 2017 New York City, US
2017 ECOSOC Youth Forum

The sixth UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum will consider the theme, 'The Role of Youth in Poverty Eradication and Promoting Prosperity in a Changing World'. The Forum will have opening and closing plenary sessions with representatives from youth organizations, high-level keynote speakers, as well as thematic and regional breakout sessions. It will include a Ministerial Roundtable that could feature national reviews of progress on youth development and youth engagement in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Young people will also be encouraged to make individual and group commitments for action for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All plenary sessions will feature SDG Youth Advocates and YouTubers, in interactive and dynamic discussions to leverage their influence and global reach to inspire concrete actions to promote SDG implementation.
The Forum will seek to reflect a diversity of youth organizations and include a balanced representation of youth from developed and developing countries. The outcome of the meeting is expected to be an ECOSOC Presidential Statement that will be transmitted for consideration to the 2017 session of the ECOSOC High-level Segment and the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). An informal summary of the event is also expected. The meeting should be webcast and participants should be able to pose questions via social media through Facebook and Twitter. The annual ECOSOC Youth Forum is a platform where young people can contribute to policy discussions at the UN through collective ideas, solutions and innovations. Hashtag: #YOUTH2030
