28-29 September 2022 London, England, UK
Second IMO-UNEP-Norway Innovation Forum

The IMO-UNEP-Norway Innovation Forum aims to champion innovation to accelerate the transition of the marine sector towards a zero- and low-emission future.

The event is supported by the Government of Norway, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretariat and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and will focus on addressing the specific needs of developing countries, especially the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and small island developing States (SIDS). The Forum is linked to the IMO World Maritime Day theme 2022, ‘New Technologies for Greener Shipping,’ with a special emphasis on inclusive innovation for decarbonization of the maritime sector.

The aim of the Innovation Forum is to:

  • showcase the demonstration of green technologies and their deployment globally in a manner that facilitates blue economic growth in developing regions;
  • ensure a people-centered transition to a zero-carbon shipping industry by 2050 as well as the safety and health of the maritime workforce;
  • hold discussions and generate a debate around new ways of financing sustainable maritime transport; and
  • bring industry stakeholders, academia, and global research centers together to offer inclusive solutions for maritime decarbonization for trials along specific shipping routes in the Asia-Pacific region.
