The SDG Action Weekend will generate opportunities for UN Member States, UN entities, and other stakeholders to set out specific commitments and contributions to drive SDG transformation between now and 2030.
The SDG Action Weekend will focus on two specific days: SDG Mobilization Day, on 16 September; and SDG Acceleration Day, on 17 September. SDG Mobilization Day will provide a space for open exchange between civil society stakeholders and key representatives to share lessons learned on the SDGs and views on progress and ways forward on implementation. A youth-focused dialogue will spotlight young people’s contribution to SDG implementation and mobilize youth to act. A local and regional government forum will showcase how local and regional governments are localizing the SDGs and feature high-impact initiatives led by local and regional governments, with the aim of accelerating localization commitments on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and sharing challenges and solutions. Additional segments will focus on women and the private sector.
SDG Acceleration Day aims to profile actions, investments, and support to accelerate country-level implementation, building on high-impact initiatives that the UN development system is mobilizing around in advance of the SDG Summit. The Day will showcase countries or contexts where significant progress is being made alongside coalitions of governments and stakeholders who commit to specific, tangible actions to scale initiatives in line with national priorities.
