Convening as an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on SDG 16, the SDG 16 High-level Conference 2024 is taking place under the theme, ‘Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies for Sustainable Development’. The Conference will serve as a high-level platform to assess and promote SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions) as a key enabler of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.
The Conference will bring together representatives of governments, international organizations, civil society, academia, and youth to assess progress and challenges related to SDG 16. The Conference will also highlight the catalytic effect that progress on SDG 16 can have in addressing intersecting global crises, share experiences and insights, and identify good practices to support acceleration of SDG 16. The Conference serves as the Official SDG 16 Review Conference and will contribute to the 2024 July session of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and the Summit of the Future in September.
The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy are co-organizing the Conference.
