Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development

The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) will continue the efforts of the Government of Japan to support African-led development. The event will also feature the awards ceremony for the Fifth Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize.

TICAD is an initiative of the Government of Japan. Through the TICAD process, Japan aims to deepen its relationships with African countries. The first conference took place in 1993.

The UN, UN Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank, and African Union Commission (AUC) will co-host the event.
