The fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP-5) to the Minamata Convention on Mercury will take place in October – November 2023. 

The Minamata Convention was adopted to address mercury, a heavy metal that is persistent in the environment. The Convention was adopted on 10 October 2013 and entered into force on 16 August 2017.

During the second segment of COP-4, the Conference of the Parties elected Claudia Dumitru (Romania) as the President of COP-5.
