The UN General Assembly (UNGA) and the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) will convene a Thematic Event on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs). The event aims to provide substantive input to the Third UN Conference on LLDCs, which will convene in June 2024.

LLDCs face major constraints to meaningfully benefit from globalization because of their geographic remoteness and lack of direct access to major global markets. In recognition of this context, the event will consider how to address the unique situation of LLDCs within this context, with the broader aim of accelerating their socioeconomic growth and progress towards the SDGs.
