IWC Scientific Committee Meeting 2023

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) will hold the annual meeting of its Scientific Committee to review and make decisions on the Committee’s reports and recommendations on the conservation and management of whale species. The Scientific Committee provides advice to the IWC in the form of a detailed report, which is released shortly after its meeting and serves as a scientific foundation for IWC’s policy making.

Convening in person for the first time in three years, the meeting will feature a plenary session, followed by eight days of sub-committee meetings, a day to consolidate reports, and three final days of plenary sessions. Two pre-meetings will take place and a joint meeting of the IWC Scientific and Conservation Committees will convene on 7th May.
