The Global Launch of the International Year of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) 2014 will include opening remarks by the President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) John Ashe, an address by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and remarks by the Secretary-General of the Third International Conference on SIDS, Wu Hongbo. Representatives from Barbados, Mauritius, Nauru and Samoa will provide remarks, followed by statements from Major Groups.
