This workshop is being organized by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Council for Science's (ICSU) Committee on Data for Science and Technology, the World Federation of Engineering Organizations' Communication and Information Committee, and Kenya's Ministry of Communication and Information. It will discuss strategies and objectives of sponsoring and participating organizations concerning open data for science and sustainability in developing countries, with special consideration for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ICSU's Future Earth research program in developing countries. The workshop will also develop and endorse a set of principles and guidelines for preservation of, and open access to, research data in developing countries.
