International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific 2024

The 16th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific will focus on the theme, ‘Taking an Integrated Approach to Overcome the Triple Planetary Crisis’. The Forum will discuss strategies to address the global climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution crises with a focus on accelerating a transition towards a sustainable society.

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) will host the Forum. The Forum is held annually to facilitate diverse discussions and share information on sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.

The Forum will take an integrated approach to the three crises, in recognition that progress has been slow and fragmented. Participants will discuss how to promote an integrated approach in the Asia-Pacific region that minimizes tradeoffs and maximizes synergies among the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on climate change, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
