International Conference on Solar Energy Technology in Development Cooperation

The Austrian Development Agency in cooperation with AEE-INTEC, BSW Solar and GIZ sponsors a two-day conference to explore issues related to providing sustainable energy to the two billion people in developing countries that do not have access to modern energy supplies, while curbing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and meeting growing energy demand. In particular, participants will share knowledge and experiences on projects, financing, and social, economic and political barriers associated with the diffusion of solar technologies. Through lectures, workshops and poster shows, the conference will cover: needs and market development for solar energy; financing for solar energy in developing countries; photovoltaics (PV) in development cooperation – moving from off-grid rural applications to large-scale deployment; solar thermal applications such as drying, air heating, process heat, heating and cooling, and domestic hot water; solar energy for decentralized water treatment systems; and capacity building. The organizers are expecting participants from a broad spectrum of professions, including manufacturers, suppliers, installers, energy consultants, elected officials, programme planners, financiers, scientists, engineers and students.
