INDM, IGO, IACNDR

The Third Hemispheric Encounter of the Inter-American Network for Disaster Mitigation (INDM) will consider the theme 'Integrating Disaster Risk Management and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Development Agenda'. A meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Natural Disaster Reduction (IACNRD) will take place in parallel on 25 November, followed on 26 November by a Meeting of the Subregional Specialized Inter-governmental Organizations (IGO) on Disaster Risk Management that also serve as the Regional Focal Points for INDM, namely the Central American Integration System's (SICA) Center for the Prevention of Natural Disasters in Central America (CEPREDENAC), CARICOM's Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the Andean Community's Committee for the Prevention and Attention to Disasters (CAPRADE). These meetings will: share experiences and good practices on the basis of the findings and results of studies undertaken in Central America, the Caribbean and Andean region so as to inform public policy to improve national disaster risk management systems; reactivate the ICDM and IACNRD; discuss a strategic plan for the next three to five years; and increase collaboration and coordination between the OAS, sub-regional IGO and UN agencies, particularly the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (ISDR), regarding disaster risk management.
