The International High-Level Conference on International Decade for Action, 'Water for Sustainable Development,' 2018-2028 will be organized jointly by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. It will facilitate the implementation of the International Decade for Action 'Water for Sustainable Development,' 2018-2018, which was endorsed by the UN General Assembly resolution 71/222 on 21 December 2016.

The primary goal of the Conference is a comprehensive discussion of the way forward with implementation of the Action Plan of the International Decade for Action 'Water for Sustainable Development,' 2018-2018 at the global, regional and national levels. The event will also seek to develop practical recommendations for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation) and SDG targets related to water resources.

SDG 6 is one of the sub-set of SDGs that will receive special focus during the July 2018 meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF 2018).
