29-30 August 2024 Utrecht, Netherlands
Global Goals 2024

Global Goals 2004 will take place under the theme, ‘The Future of the SDGs’. The international research conference aims to advance theoretical reflection and empirical, actionable knowledge on the success of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.

The Conference will offer a global platform to share and discuss new ideas for the future of the SDGs and global sustainability governance. The Conference further aims to encourage transdisciplinarity and contributions by non-academic experts, as a critical academic steppingstone in preparation for the 2024 Summit of the Future.

The Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University, is hosting the Conference with the Earth System Governance Project, European Research Council, Centre for Development Studies, University of Bath, German Institute of Development and Sustainability, and the Oslo SDG Initiative. The Conference will focus on five streams:

  • Acceleration of SDG implementation;
  • Differentiation and dynamization of the SDGs;
  • Reforming the SDGs;
  • The future of sustainability; and
  • The role of science and knowledge.
