G7 Ministerial Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment

The 2024 Group of 7 (G7) Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment will take place under the Italian G7 Presidency, and consider priority issues in the areas of climate, energy, and the environment.

At the 2023 G7 Ministerial Meeting on Climate, Energy, and Environment, G7 members reaffirmed their commitment to the Paris Agreement on climate change while keeping the 1.5°C goal “within reach through scaled up action in this critical decade,” and to the “full, swift and effective implementation” of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). They agreed to advance and promote a green transformation and to address climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, land degradation, and the energy crisis by accelerating the clean energy transition, resource efficiency, and a circular economy, to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its SDGs.

The seven G7 countries are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US. Represented jointly by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, the EU participates in all discussions as a guest.
